The planning permission was granted on 13th June a week ahead of the target date, just as well because I had lined up the ground works contractor to start clearing site on 20th June.

Week One:

We have now cleared the site of trees and boy, do I have a log pile !IMG_7210

The building control officer and structural engineer have been out to look at our test holes and have agreed that we should dig out the whole footprint down to the firm stuff at 2 meters. That hole will then need filling back up with rock and compact-able material, then we can pour in the concrete.

The water tank and septic tanks have both arrived, septic tank needs assembling mind, saw the video and looks a simple job.

The composting toilet all working well with no nasty niffs and a mini compound has been made from brush and fallen branches for the compost corner. Hand washing facilities also in place by way of a birch tripod and a plastic beer barrel.

The herras fencing has now been erected and shored up with long birch branches and 2 of the oak trees have been pruned and look so much better for it.IMG_7198

We will start making the access road in on Monday, before we dig out the un-usable material for the foundations.
