I adore my cabin in Invergarry and have enjoyed every step of seeing it come to life. I invite all my visitors and guests to add an entry on this page. See what they have to say about this very special, luxury log cabin. Maybe you could be the next visitor?

My partner booked us a long weekend in the shepherds hut and we loved every second of it! Perfect place to have a nice quiet break, we made use of the canoe and had great fun out on the loch. the scenery is just beautiful! The hut itself was just amazing and had so many cute wee decorations, the sign on the door was right, we didn't want to leave!! What a magical little place you have made Alison! The best weekend break we have ever had ❤️

Such a wild but peaceful time spent in caledonian cabin’s place, placed by the lake not far from running water that comes from the top of the hill. The sound of the river over the stones creates mini waterfall sound that brings your stay such a relaxing feeling.
Cabin itself (the bunk house) is a mini lux place for 1-4 guests, great feeling staying in over the night. Once up in the morning a 10 min walk must come into place just before that first coffee.
We planned Ben Nevis hike on 27.10.20 and stayed in Caledonian cabins which was only 40 min drive to Ben Nevis. We could’ve stayed closer but we could not miss this place.
See their web page, place offers a lot more then just a overnight stay and we have promised we’ll be back in warmer days to enjoy lake and canoeing .
A lady Alison answers all questions and makes sure your stay is a Lux feeling for a regular price. Thank you Alison and we’ll see your Cabins again.

The journey from London is well worth it once you arrive at the cabin. It has such a homely feel and is finished to an extremely high standard. The place is sooo quiet and the beds so comfy that it is easy to recharge after the days activities. We didn’t take advantage of the kayaks and boats available as we wanted to explore the surrounding highlands. After a long day there is nothing more relaxing than the hot tub, with a few drinks under the night sky. The cabin has everything you require, including the wood burner - which you only require for the effect. We will be back in the summer months and will surely take advantage of the activities closer to the cabin. The boat house look out is a great addition

Had a lovely few days chilling at the Caledonian Cabin its such a lovely space, unlike most log cabins that are actually just sheds, this is a proper "bear in the woods log cabin" made from actual whole trees!
I could just sit and stare at this structure all day and all night, it is especially pretty in the dark all lit up.
The location as well is fantastic close to the Loch and with the added bonus of watersports equipment all ready to go in the boathouse meant we didnt have to drag our own away with us, great for hill walking the Knoydart hills as well.
The attention to detail from Alison, she has made this very homely and that under floor heating on your bare foot is bliss, woodburner lit and you wont find a warmer place to be on a cold Scottish night.
The hottub after a long day walking is just amazing.
We will definetly return and have started telling all our friends there is only one log cabin you need to stay in Scotland.

My partner and I had the most amazing overnight stay in the Shepherds hut. We really didn't want to leave! The location is superb with stunning scenery. We made good use of the boats and had so much fun out on the loch. The hot tub was a perfect way to warm up after our activities. The cabin had everything we needed for our stay, I only wish we had booked to stay longer. I have recommended Caledonian Cabins to all of my friends and family and we are already looking into rebooking.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Caledonian cabin.

The views even on drive down are wonderful and Scotland at its finest.

Was great having the kayaks and boats to row along loch, great way of catching views from different perspective. Was great fun for wife who had never been rowing before.

The hot tub and log burning pizza oven were great. The pizza oven got well used during our stay!!

Lovely accommodation fully equipped with a great guide on all workings of appliances and utility’s on site.

Booking was easy and host made it a seamless stay with plenty information.

Can safely say the Caledonian cabin is the best cabin I have ever holidayed in. Will return again 100%!!

“The cabin is built to an exceptional standard including all interior design. All the additional extras like the Wellingtons, hairdryer, straighteners, boats and gear. The kitchen and living areas are well appointed and the views are amazing. ”

    Perfect Escapism!
Stayed in the Bunkhouse, very comfortable, high standard of furnishings, fantastic location, very peaceful and relaxing in the woodland, located on the edge of Loch Garry. Very dog friendly too which was great, will definitely be looking to return, thank you Alison!

This was our second visit to the Caledonian Cabin, this time with 4 of our closest friends. We had an amazing 3 night stay over the August bank holiday weekend. The cabin was immaculately clean and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a special holiday away! We are already looking at dates for our third visit!!

We visited for 3 nights and absolutely loved it! The hut was very clean & tidy, and beautifully decorated too. The canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and rowing boat were all really fun & we spent the whole day on the loch. The hot tub was also fab! Only thing is it’s quite far away from any major town, however it’s the perfect place to relax!

The Shepheard hut is a fab place to get away. We stayed with our dog for two nights in early March, it’s super cosy inside with the log burner going even when it was snowy outside. The hot tub is fab and keeps its heat for ages after the fire has gone out, there’s some lovely little spots around the Loch if you take a wonder in the woods around the hut. Alison answered all of our questions promptly and messaged us with information she thought would be helpful. I would recommend staying here to anyone if your looking for somewhere novel and charming to stay. We would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful experience at Caledonian Cabins. We stayed in the Main Cabin and the facilities both inside the cabin and the recreational options outside were beyond our expectations.

I would highly recommend Caledonian Cabins for a vacation. In Summer there is huge scope for outdoor activities and in Winter it is perfect as a cosy retreat with incredible luxury.

When we booked the shepherds hut from Caledonian cabins, we were so excited, and it did not disappoint, it was one of the most relaxing places to stay, although the weather was cold, with the stove lit it's so cozy that you just want to spend your evening sitting in front of it, also with a wood fired hot tub outside that can get pretty hot, it just clears away any aches from the nice walks that can be done in the surrounding area, Alison has thought of everything and the hut is full of little squirks that just make you smile, I recommend this little gem for anyone, we'll definitely be back.

We loved staying here for two nights in the Shepard’s hut, it wasn’t long enough! Alison was extremely helpful and quick to respond to emails.
The location is absolutely beautiful next to the Loch, the Shepard’s hut has all the amenities you need will some lovely homely touches.
Our dog Luna loved it as well!
We had a fantastic time using the canoes and went on some great walks near invergarry.
I would love to come back!

Fantastic beautiful place, everything was there, beds were so comfortable, plenty of room. Would recommend this place to anyone. Someone coming from abroad would love this place in Scotland.
Thank you very much for our stay.

My wife, dog and I stayed for two nights at the start of January. We instantly loved the place. I couldn't fault it. Aside from its obvious aesthetic appeal it was also extremely comfortable and practical. I am 6ft 4 and never felt tight for space at all. It's located near the main road so is easy to find but once there it feels very secluded and private. We have no negatives about our stay and would highly recommend it.

Absolutely charming stay in the shepherds hut. Beautiful location, lovely accommodation. Extremely cosy, even in the middle of winter. Everything you need for a relaxing stay. Only regret is that we only stayed for one night, will definitely be coming back for a longer trip next time.

Felt very special staying at the cabin. Tourists were taking photos of the Cabin just as we arrived and wished us a lovely holiday. The Cabin has absolutely everything and more. Felt we were in a lovely Highland bubble. Kayaking was a daily ritual as was the hot tub. Absolutely beautiful. Was going to keep this to myself as a secret escape, but my random act of kindness for today is to share!

“Beautiful cabin, in a stunning location fantastically managed - recipe for a dreamy weekend. Alison truly deserves her title of 'superhost', from booking the communication channels were open and she was very helpful from answering my many questions to sending excellent directions. The cabin's design is stunning (hands down the best bathrooms I have ever used) and add ons such as the hot tub and the SUPs and canoes by the loch really made it a special getaway. The area is absolutely beautiful and Alison allows you to experience it first hand at your own pace and in your own way, I had an unforgettable getaway and could not recommend the Caledonian Cabin enough.”

“The Shepherd's hut is a very special, magical place. The location is so tranquil and relaxing. The hut has everything you need for a comfortable few days. The hot tub is simply amazing! My dogs were happy chilling on the decking but there was also plenty of space in the grounds for them to run around and splash in the lake. There were others staying in the main cabin and the bunk house but I was not disturbed by them and hardly aware they were there.”

“What a delight to stay at the Shepherds Hut. Beautiful setting for this cosy quirky hut. Lots of places to sit out, cook and enjoy the woodland area. Everything had been thought about and although we were lucky with the weather it would be just as magical staying here in the winter. The boating/kayaking/paddle boarding on the loch was so much fun. So glad we made time for this on Alison’s recommendation. Swimming in the loch then getting in the hot tub to warm up, such a treat. We managed to get the hot tub so hot we had to add cold water!

Where to begin? We’ve just returned from a 3-night stay at the cabin and we are still coming to terms with our experience.

First of all, the majority of promoted ‘cabins’ are, truth be told, what amount to glorified sheds….nothing could be further from the truth with this home (and it is a home and should be treated as such).
From the moment you set eyes upon it as you approach, to entering through the door, it is a true log-cabin in the grandest sense.
Once the initial visuals take hold & the sheer magnificence of the building, the next thing to hit your senses as you approach the main door is the wonderful all-encompassing smell of cedar…its a natural relaxant on the senses & carries through as you walk over the threshold.
The interior:-….the photographs will never do it justice…Alison quietly mentioned in an email that interior design is “her thing”….never has there been such an understatement….every aspect of the aesthetic & functional has been executed to perfection. Her eye for detail and ambience is second to none.
Experience:-….trust us, everything has been thought through….all you need to do is rock up & the rest is done. Log burner, hot tub, fully-equipped kitchen (every gadget you could wish for), Sky Q, washer/dryer…fixtures & fittings & finishes you would get in any 5* residence. Alison also constantly re-assures in being contactable in any emergencies etc or for general enquiries so never do you feel on your own (heads up due to the professionalism and whole package we never had to rely on any such comms).
Setting:-….a 30-second stroll down the guided path (alongside the fabulous burn to which the hot tub overlooks) will lead you directly to the shores of Loch Garry where you will see nothing but water & the magnificent glen surrounding you for miles on end. Here is where you truly gather your thoughts and realise why you booked this place (kayaks even provided for the adventurous). Having said this you're only 10/20/40 mins from towns in various directions for any essential services or varied dining options for local fayre.
Notes:-…..the remoteness means that, for the time being, although you may get mobile comms dependant on your provider, there is no wi-fi…..but speaking as someone who thought he could not do without this on a daily basis… that a bad thing to truly switch off?…but rest assured that Alison provides a host of alternative nearby locations where those who truly feel the need, can connect….but go for it….try the alternative…switch off.
Summary:- We make no apologies for the somewhat extensive comments as we want to get across what stands the cabin high above any of the other accommodation and experiences you may be considering.

“We wish we had stayed much longer. Amazing location, very comfortable and cosy, very clean. The hot tub was amazing on a stormy night, took a couple of hours to warm up before getting in but stayed hot even overnight and we could have another in the morning. Our only regret was leaving.”

“This is an amazing space. The little touches make it all the more special as they are so thoughtful. This is truly an amazing space and even though it was raining it gave us the excuse to chill out in a cosy shepherd's hut, which is very thoughtfully laid out, spacious and set up for whatever you want to do. The stream and loch are right on your doorstep so I would really recommend this to anyone wanting to chill out or those that are more active.”

The Shepards Hut marked the last stop on our way back from the North Coast 500 route and it was the perfect end to an amazing trip! We were blown away when we entered the Shepards Hut - it has been so well put together and was the perfect hideaway for two nights! We had an unforgettable time on the kayaks, had some wonderful BBQs (gas as well so no need for coal) and a relaxing soak in the hot tub! While the main cabin is nearby, you don't feel overlooked at all. The bed was super comfy, the bathroom was spotless and it's been so well thought-out - I honestly couldn't recommend it more. And for the practical-minded - phone signal and 4G were reliable. The TV doesn't seem to get much signal but there is a shelf of DVDs which gives you a bit of time to chill in front of a movie in the evening, which was lovely. Within 10 minutes I was already planning the next trip! Absolutely wonderful!”

Our stay was BRILLIANT! Thank you so much, we had. A wonderful afternoon, starry night and sunny morning. Alison couldn’t be more helpful and the hut had everything you could need and more! Even owls flying over at night while sitting on the verandah with a glass of wine. The morning run along the loch was incredible.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay in Alison's Shepherds Hut! We were staying as part of a birthday trip, exploring the surrounding area – the hut was a great place to return to after a hike or a ride at the Nevis Range mountain centre. We travelled to Scotland via the train into Fort William and then we picked up a hire car to make the 40min-ish drive to the cabin. The drive was easy and we regularly drove to Fort William, the Nevis Range Mountain Centre and near-by Fort Augustus. The Hut itself was very well equipped and comfortable, having a full bathroom was excellent touch and being able to cook in the hut was really appreciated on the first night. Previous shepherds huts we stayed in had no where near this level of equipment. Finally the wood fired hot tub was an excellent addition that was appreciated after a day of highland activities. Alison was really quick to respond to any enquiries we had and the whole experience has caused to to consider a return trip soon.

“Thanks Alison - our stay in your bunk house was a complete and utter pleasure. The setting was like a fairy tale; the facilities were superb; the décor and furnishings were quirky yet amazingly cosy; I would just love to recreate the bed arrangement in our own home; fantastic bath and shower room; so disappointed that we never had the time to enjoy the possibility of using the kayaks or rowing boat to get on to Loch Garry. Just the two of us, so our night's stay was a bit of a treat but we could n't resist how the bunk house sounded. Our expectations were easily exceeded and we felt very happy to have taken the gamble and splashed out. Would love to take our grandchildren !! Thanks Alison - Richard and Margaret :)”

The best accommodation I have ever stayed in and the location was just perfect. Great communications with the owner and gave us so many tips and useful information. You will not be disappointed staying here. Will definitely be back soon :)

This cabin is loaded with everything u need and more and is very clean and modern you won't be disappointed

  • Bradley

If you don’t stay here, you are missing out. A little bit of paradise.

  • Craig

This place was amazing. The cabin is truly beautiful and the place you always dream of finding. In addition there is the bunk house and Shepher’s hit for extra guests. We went at the start of May and had great weather through the long weekend. Whilst it was sunny, there was a slight chill to the air and the evenings were cold but we made use of the fire pits dotted around the property.

We spent a few days here and filled our time with walks in the stunning scenery, a whiskey distillery tour, lunch by the lochs, paddle boarding, kayaking and time in the hot tube.

Me the fiancee and the pooch stayed in the shepherd's hut for 1 night this January. We cannot express how fantastic this location is. The attention to detail is incredible, every little thing has been thought about. There is a small electric hob, kettle, microwave, and steamer. You can get the log stove fired up and the place is lovely and snug very quickly. Be sure to check out the wood fired hot tub on the decking too. We were in it at 9.30pm while it was 5 degrees and raining and we're lovely and toasty. There is an open fire pit area stocked with logs to get going and plenty of things to set up a bbq. You are far enough away from the main cabin that you don't disturb each other but if you had a large group you can easily stay together and use it to sleep and as a base. I look forward to going back here in the near future and be able to explore more of the west coast of Scotland.

The most beautiful, tranquil, idyllic place to stay where you can unwind and forget about the world. Set on a stunning site yet not far from interesting places to visit. The log cabin has a very welcoming atmosphere and is a most homely, comfortable place to stay with all mod cons. I love it!!!!
